Originally about 100 km south of the Aswan High Dam the temple of Thoth at Dakka Egyptian pselqet,Greek Pselchis) was moved to the site of El-Sebua a little more than 40 km upstream between 1962 and 1968.it was begun by the Meroitic king Arkamani about 220BC,and construction continued in the reigns of several kings including Ptolemy IV,PtolemyVIII and the emperors Augustus and Tiberius. The well-decorated temple has two sanctuaries,on earlier one of Arkamani and a second added by Augustus. When the temple was moved, it was found to contain a number of reused blocks from an earlier structure, dedicated to Horus of Baki Quban by Hatshepsut and Tutmosis III.
